IP PANORAMA was designed to help SMEs utilize and manage Intellectual Property (IP) in their business strategy. In the past, most of the IP education materials had a legal orientation, even though businesses had a real need for a business-oriented IP education. IP PANORAMA increases IP-awareness among enterprise sector and a wide range of university students by providing practical knowledge about using IP for business success.

IP PANORAMA relies on a brand new instructional design strategy based on ‘Storytelling’ along with educational technology. The learning content of each module was designed with a practical story regarding intellectual property. It is informative as well as interesting.

IP PANORAMA deals with IP issues from a business perspective, especially focusing on the situation of SMEs.

The University of Glasgow is launching a New LLM programme in Octomber 2011 : Intellectual Property and the Digital Economy. This program is for students who have a good first degree in law (2:1 upwards or equivalent) or a first degree (2:1 upwards or equivalent) with at least 50% of the credits in law and a good knowledge in English (requirements). The students have to choose three elective disciplines among :

  • Contemporary issues in intellectual property
  • Copyright in the digital environment
  • EC trade law
  • E-Commerce, rights management, and information
  • Intellectual property and the market
  • International and comparative intellectual property law
  • International economic law

The postgraduate degree courses in Intellectual Property and International Commercial Law are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA).

Within Bournemouth University, CIPPM has been responsible for integrating intellectual property content into the graduate curriculum across the university, including BA/BSc Product Design, BSc Software Engineering, BSc Business Information Systems, BSc Multimedia Communications, BA Public Relations, BA/MA Multimedia Journalism, MA Broadcast & Film Management, MA Postproduction (editing, composition, sound design), MA Radio Production, MA TV Production. Bournemouth University and CIPPM are recognised as a leader in this field.

Core is the Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property (PG Cert IP) that is available in flexible delivery, requiring attendance for only three block weekends (Thursday afternoon until Saturday evening). The PG Cert IP offers full exemptions from the CIPA/ITMA Joint Education Board foundation papers.
